Engagements

A sampling of my talks, workshops, and presentations.

MOAD

Since 2010, I have designed and led art-making events for families and visitors at the Museum of the African Diaspora in San Francisco- tailoring activities for 10-250 participants of all ages. Attendees learn real artistic techniques, surprise themselves with new abilities, and are always able to take their artwork home to enjoy.

Yale Forum on Religion and Ecology Interview

After participating in a USF art exhibition on art and ecology and giving an artist talk for their Art Department’s Painting class, I was invited to be interviewed for Yale’s Forum on Religion and Ecology, an international project founded at the UN in 1998.

USF Art and Ecology

I was a contributor in the artist talk for the group exhibition “All That You Touch: Art andEcology” at USF. We discussed our creative processes, and the roles of ecology and culture in our practices.

KPFA Interview

I was interviewed on the KPFA radio segment “A Rude Awakening” by host Sabrina Jacobs about my solo exhibition “Transcendent Iconography”.

The Light of Truth

Commissioned by multidisciplinary artist collective Chromatic Black, I created a solo exhibition of mixed media paintings and installations highlighting themes from the life and work of pioneering investigative journalist Ida B Wells-Barnett. My 90 minute presentation was part artist talk and part curriculum, as it delved into the realities of the time, details of her life/work, and relevance for today’s struggle.
